For those of you who have not heard of '100+ women who care', let me fill you in on this amazing community of ladies with a vision for a greater Cedar Valley.
100+ women was started in the Cedar Valley just over a year ago with one common goal - to help meet the needs of our community. The idea behind it is simple, yet profound. Each quarter they hold a meeting where women come, write out a check for $100, and then are given the opportunity to submit a local charity, into a drawing, that they believe could benefit from the money provided. At the start of the meeting, three charities are drawn and then those who were drawn, are given some time to prepare a small speech on why they chose that charity. After each of the 3 ladies has their chance to speak, everybody votes for who they think should receive the donations from that night. By the end of the night, one charity is handed a check for $10,000+ to put toward a specific need in our community.
Amazing, right??
Not only does this group raise awareness to needs that many of us didn't even know existed, several of these charities will exhaust so much of their own money, time, energy and resources to be able to raise $10,000+, 100+ women has created a way for these charities to raise money and awareness in a way that they may not have been able to do otherwise.
A special thanks to their board members (Lisa, Tina, Bethany, Katie, Kristin, Deanna and Beth) who set everything up and make this all possible. As well as the businesses within our community who help sponsor such an event.
