Brittney and Jason's September wedding took place at Prarie Links Golf Course & Event Center in Waverly, Iowa. It was an absolutely gorgeous day, a slight wind in the early afternoon, however that calmed as the day progressed. Adriana and I showed up around 11:45, just as Brittney was finishing up her makeup. She was glowing. Add her dress and jewelry to the mix and "stunning" comes to mind. The getting ready photos have always been one of my favorite parts of the day. These women who were gorgeous before, somehow manage to transform themselves into a whole new level of breathtaking. There's something magical about a wedding day - I'm not sure what it is, but it's most definitely there. <3
The first look was on the event center dance floor, where the sunlight was softly creeping in through the wall of windows on the east side of the building. From there we found a corner of shade that worked perfectly for a few bride/groom photos before family formals were set to start.
The back-wind and high sun created a challenge during the family formals, but with some fill flash and a little patience (waiting for wind to calm briefly), I couldn't have been more happy with how those images turned out.
From there, we like to stay out of the way as much as we can. We will capture some fun wedding party photos between the ceremony and reception and then while everyone is eating, I'll steal the newlyweds for a few portraits at sunset.
After the wedding, I sent Brittany a series of questions about her overall wedding experience. I offer this as a way of gaining feedback to better serve my couples as well as a way to pass along tips to future couples as they embark on the joyous journey of wedding planning. Check out her answers at the bottom!
Jason and Brittney were so sweet and so much fun to work with. I couldn't be happier for them in this new stage of their lives together. <3

*What was your favorite part?
The day itself, of course! I wish every day that I could relive it!
*What was hard?
The week before was the worst. Making sure everything was taken care of and getting last minute details ironed out!
*Any advice for other newly engaged couples who are starting to plan their own wedding?
It’s an amazing day but don’t do all of the extras, it’s not worth the money. (The pointless decor that nobody even notices)!
*Did your wedding day match how you envisioned your day to be?
*Explain your answer:
Everything was perfect!
*What was your favorite part of your day?
Getting to see my husband for the first time!
*Is there anything that you would have done differently?
I wouldn’t have done all of the small, detailed decorating. It wasn’t worth the money!
*Any other noteworthy memories from your day that you'd like to share?
*How was your experience with Nichole Diehm Photography? Anything you really liked or would have changed?
I really liked working with Nichole and meeting her ahead of time made me a lot more comfortable! The only thing I would’ve liked to have changed was the engagement pictures weren’t included in my digital rights.. I wish this was explained a little more as I was left under the impression that I would receive these rights since this was my package.
(Photographer Note: to be transparent, I chose to leave this in. With this info, we are now aware and have been able to take steps to resolve this. I will be linking a separate blog to this explaining everything in more detail later this week. Follow our blog or on our facebook page to stay up to date on latest postings!)
*Would you recommend Nichole Diehm Photography to your friends?
