Father Daughter Dance [ 2016 ]

This past Friday I had the privilege of setting up studio for father/daughter portraits during the father/daughter dance held at St.Paul's Church in Waverly, IA. There's seriously nothing sweeter to me than the bond between a father and daughter. (I'm pretty sure I've choked back more tears during wedding reception father/daughter dances than not. :P) How special these little girls must feel getting all dressed up with their daddies. I absolutely love being a part of this annual event. <3

During a little break between portraits, I did get a chance to get a few shots of everyone in action. These girls were having a blast and I was thoroughly impressed with how many dads were actually out dancing -- great job, dads!!

JDRF One Walk [ 2016 ]

I was first introduced to the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) walk last year when asked to photograph the teams. Prior to that, I'll admit, I was clueless. To my understanding, diabetes was something that mostly affected overweight adults and maybe a few others...I had no idea that there were so many children/young, otherwise healthy, individuals that were also affected by this disease. As a nearly 30 year old who has dealt with a 'strong dislike' of needles most of her life, seeing so many kids who get "pricks" several times a day really puts things into perspective. I have so much respect for these kids and families, as well as their friends and organizations like 'JDRF' who have stepped up and are DOING something to help find a cure. What a cool thing to be a part of...

A very special thanks to the planning committee and volunteers who really help make events like this happen. This is truly an amazing group of people, both inside and out.

And thanks to all the groups / individuals who came out. I didn't get a chance to talk to all of you, but seeing all the support was inspiring to say the least.

Life 101.9 Easter Egg Hunt 2015

Today I was able to photograph the activities at the 2nd annual Life 101.9 Easter Egg Hunt at the Ramada Hotel and Convention Center in Waterloo, Iowa. I had a blast watching the kids get so excited over all of the different games/prizes put on by the numerous vendors that took part in today's festivities. :)

A special thanks to everyone who participated. I loved being a part of it. :)

Tucker's First Easter Egg Hunt

This morning was Tucker's first Easter Eggs Hunt with his daddy's work. I was surprised how quickly he caught on. It only took one time of showing him to pick up the eggs and put them in the sack for him to start picking up every egg he came across and put it in the grocery bag. He may be short (7th percentile as of his last appt.) but, as a biased mother, I will say he's smart. ;)

Can't brag on this boy enough. ;)

Father Daughter Dance

I was thrilled to be asked to offer formal photographs for a father-daughter dance held at St.Paul's Church in Waverly, Iowa this past Friday. I've always been a huge supporter of fathers having an encouraging and active relationship with their daughters (and sons) for all the benefits a father's presence seems to have on kids. So it really was great to be a part of such a sweet event. I was impressed with how dressed up some of the dads got -- full suit and tie; boutineers with a matching corsage for their little girls -- the whole works. I can only imagine how special those girls had to feel. I know I would have loved to have been able to do something like that with my dad when I was their age.

As much as I would love to share the photos, I didn't have anyone sign a release and since there are children in the photographs, I am going to err on the side of caution and not post any from this event....or, well, maybe I'll post one. ;)

Kaylee was one of my seniors last year and then she and her best friend were assisting me at the photo table while her parents were running the DJ booth. Seriously, love this family to pieces. :)

JDRF Walk

This past February I was asked to take the team photos for the JDRF walk, a fundraiser for the Junior Diabetes Research Foundation. I was thrilled and so happy to help support such a great foundation. Here are all of the teams [that found me]...as well as a new feathery friend. ;)

A special thanks to everyone who participated.
